TimeLapse! version 1.3 to be released very soon

It has been quite a long while since the last release of TimeLapse! A long list of feature requests, bugs, enhancement request are collected. Here they are major ones:

1. Cannot playback the video (Cause the bad rating due to people can't read description?!)
2. Turn screen off while recording
3. Shutter sound can't mute in some devices

We spent quite a long long time trying to create a built-in video player for our own video. It works in some senses but the performance is not quite acceptable. We can only create at most 15 FPS playback rate without using hardware acceleration. How about with hardware acceleration? We think hard if we should choose that path to change our goal from a timelapse app to a video playing app. Finally, we decide to remove that feature. Just let those can't read to rate bad. Sigh!

Well, it may be a good news to all of you, since we are now back to the development of the core function and new version of Timelapse! is coming very soon. Stay tune.

Let see a few great timelapse video we received:

A Glimpse of Tibet

Lhasa is the heart and soul of Tibet for centuries and is still a city of wonders. Potala Palace, the Bustling Barkhor market, the scared Jokhang Temple are some of my best attractions of Tibet.

But, Tibet is much more than that. It represents a different kind of philosophy and worldview. Through this photo collection, we hopes to give you a glimpse of Tibet other than the tourist sites.

TimeLapse! version 1.0 is released to Android Market

We have just released the first version of TimeLapse! to Android Market. It is totally free!!! Please download the app through this link:
market://details?id=com.explorerdc.timelapse

TimeLapse! turns your android device into a time lapse video camera.

What is time lapse? Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than that which will be used to play the sequence back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing.

Unlike some other time lapse applications, we allow you to capture at any rate with no limit on resolution! To capture, be careful on the large memory space and battery consumption.

FAQ

1. I can't play back the video!
Android supports a limited set of video codec. You can use third party video players to play the Motion JPEG encoded video. Here is a good one:
Mobo Player

2. Where are my recorded videos?
The recorded timelapse video is saved in /sdcard/Android/TimeLapse/.

3. How can I upload the video to YouTube?
Uploading to YouTube through this application is not available at the moment. However, you can do the upload through the YouTube app.

4. How to rotate the video?
The orientation of the phone is automatically detected before the start of the capturing process. You should have your video in proper orientation. If your phone does not have the orientation sensor, you may need to manually rotate the video in your computer.

5. Can i set a custom video dimension?
Not supported. The video dimensions supported by the app depends on the camera of your phone. We have not limit the size as in most other apps, but be careful when setting to large size. The space consumption will be huge!

6. How long the video can be?
There are no limits imposed by the app, but your SD card storage and battery may have limitations.

Andriod App: Graffiti Wallpaper

We have just published our first application in Android Market: Graffiti Wallpaper.

Graffiti is a popular street culture around the world. It involves lettering scratched, scrawled, painted or marked in any manner on property.

There are many different forms of graffiti pieces that may appear in the forms of simple written words to elaborate wall paintings.

In this application, we gather some of the most interesting graffiti found in Asia. It is culturally different from those found in the Western world. There are very sophisticated masterpieces, oil spray paint, simple throwup, stencils, and some small simple tags.

Some of the graffiti are excellent candidates to use as wallpaper. Come join the world of graffiti!
